Power cables are generally made of certain voltage level, and the voltage level is 0.5kV, 1, 3, 6, 10, 20, 35, 60,, 110, 220, and 300KV, respectively. Among them, the 1kV voltage grade power cable is the most used. 3 – 35kV voltage level power cable in large and medium-sized construction of the main power supply lines are often used. 60 – 330kV voltage level power cable used in the transmission line, should not be used overhead wires and crossing the river, laying and other occasions. According to the voltage can be divided into low voltage cables (less than 1kV) and high voltage cables (more than 1kV). From the construction technology requirements, cable connectors, cable terminal structure characteristics and operation and maintenance considerations, is also divided into low voltage power cable, medium voltage power cable (1 – 10kV), high voltage power cable.
Power cables conductor wire has 1-5 core. Single core cable is used for the transmission single phase AC, DC and special occasions (high voltage motor lead out). 60kV and above voltage level oil charging, charging high voltage cables are single core. Two core cables are used for the transmission of single phase AC or DC. Three core cable is used for three-phase AC network, widely used in 35kV and below cable lines. Four core cable is used for low voltage power distribution line, TT mode and TN-C mode power supply system for neutral point grounding. Five core cables are used in low voltage power distribution line, neutral point grounding of TN-S mode power supply system. Two core and four core are low voltage 1kV cable.
